God: That is what is so exciting about life and most people glimpse it at some point, the immensity and unity of what you are living, but you retreat into ignorance because it would require a true leap of faith to live your full potential at this stage.
Me: Well, we got to pay the rent.
God: Do you?
Me: Uh, yes.
God: Right now, everyone could be sheltered and fed, if that’s what people wanted. Money could become irrelevant overnight if people simply chose to ignore it.
Me: The ultimate welfare state.
God: Welfare state, what does that mean exactly? That other people look after your welfare? Other people grow your food, other people make your clothes, build your homes, build your roads, police your neighborhoods, cure you when you are sick. Virtually everything you have was built or created for you by some one else and yet you seem to think it's all owed to you? You try to justify it and excuse it with money. "I paid my taxes, I work at a job so I can buy these things." Trust me, if you actually had to pay the real cost of what you have you would never be able to do it. What you have is built on generations of people who have gone before you. The infrastructure you have built is priceless. And it is everyone now working together that sustains you. The only way to not live in a "welfare state" is to go naked into the woods and see how long you survive without other people. frankly, how you live today is so primitive it’s almost laughable. Money is meaningless yet you hide behind it to justify your self interest.

Me: It just you made me think of this family of raccoons living here. There's a young mother with two of her own young and they're always waking me up at night, especially the young ones who are always getting lost and chirping for their mother. Any way, despite being annoying at times, I often get up and watch them, I've grown quite attached to them.
At the same time, things aren't going to well for me personally. Not much work, I'm in debt. So the other day I got serious and decided to get some projects done and get some money coming in, I organized my work space, set up a list of things to do. I felt very hopeful, very positive. That same night I woke up to the raccoons screaming and fighting above me, it was a terrible fight. Some older and larger raccoon had come in and fought the young mother and has now taken over the area.
It probably sounds silly but I realized my new found hope about my work died at that same moment. The raccoon fight seemed like some kind of cosmic message to me. People can be so ruthless too and life can really give you a sucker punch sometimes. I wonder what the point of it all is. Are we really any better than the animals? Do you know what I mean?
